The Power of Advance Purchases

Did you know? Did you know that in some situations the best time to shop is before you even need a product? These items include toiletries, paper products, drug items, canned goods, etc. You actually have more buying power when you buy your items in advance. Why? You ask. The reasons: You have more flexibility more options you can shop around you can take advantage of sales and you can also make use of coupons. What's wrong with buying items only when you need them? The truth of the matter is, everyone cannot afford to buy in bulk but the real truth is you cannot afford not to. The initial investment may seem greater but when you exercise your options you can do so much better than when buying things when you need them. Think about convenience stores, most of the time there is a huge markup on items; do you know why? Because they can, you pay for the convenience. If you just went in the bathroom and realized you are down to your last roll of tissue and you have a ...

Interest Rates can be a Blessing/Curse

The Potential Curse Ever been tempted to purchase an item because they promise 18 months same as cash? Or perhaps you're shopping at your favorite department store and the cashier asks "would you like to apply for a credit card and save 25% percent on your purchase today?". Desperately in need of a new car, have you walked into the dealership focused solely on getting the monthly payment you can afford? Warning!! Proceed with caution.  What sounds like a great way to SAVE money could actually COST you in the long run. The truth is any of these situations can work in your favor or have a totally opposite effect. What comes into play is interest rates. Bankrate.com defines an interest rate as: the proportion of an amount loaned which a lender charges as interest to the borrower, normally expressed as an annual percentage. It is the rate a bank or other lender charges to borrow its money, or the rate a bank pays its savers for keeping money in an account. Why d...

Free Places and Things

Some things in life are free. It's up to you to take advantage of things that are available to you. The Library One of the best resources that we have at our fingertips is the public library. There are so many free resources at the library. Books are a given, but there is music, movies, and lots of great electronic resources. You can find audiobooks, e-books, online training, language learning tools and more. These are great options especially if you find yourself spending large sums of money on subscriptions, software, and web services. Not saying you'll find everything you'll need, but it is a good place to start. In addition to the different types of media available, most libraries offer a number of programs and services that may be of value to you or someone you know.  Some libraries have musical concerts, classes, digital technology centers, and so much more. The products and services offered by many libraries can benefit individuals greatly and for FREE! Muse...

Get Cashback for your Purchases (Savings after you Shop)

Image
If you're shopping online and not getting cash back something is wrong, something is very wrong. Online shopping is great, you don't have to leave the house and can still get great deals. One thing all online shoppers should be aware of is cash back offers. You can find coupons and deals and also get a little something back after qualified purchases.  One of my favorites is Ebates, but there are others. On Ebates, you'll find c oupons, promo codes, and cash back opportunities.  πŸ‘‰ πŸ‘ˆ Gotta love cash back emails!πŸ‘ Hey...if you're going to make the purchase anyway, it doesn't hurt to get a percent back! The cash back could be used later towards other purchases or just extra cash in your pockets.  Another oldie, but goodie is  RetailMeNot  . Similar to Ebates, you'll find c oupons, coupon codes, promos and more. These sites are likely to be great ways to save while shopping online and even some in-store.

Save More, Spend Less

No matter how much money you make, what matters most is what you do with it.  Whether you make a little or make a lot, the way you manage your money can make or break you. Did you know that there are people who have high incomes but still live paycheck to paycheck? Did you know that there are some people with low incomes who live comfortably and do not live paycheck to paycheck? 😲It's true! πŸ˜² Higher income doesn't always mean that one is rolling in the money and lower income doesn't always mean that one is stuck on broke. The key is to not live above your means.   Living above one's means is often a recipe for disaster. Do you really need a brand new car, a massive home, and the newest cell phone all at the same time? All those things come with hefty price tags and additional considerations. You want to minimize your expenses and maximize your income. Your income and expenses should NOT be equal and your income surely should not be lower than y...
